Waiting on Wednesday ~ Featuring the Darkest Craving by Gena Showalter

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter is back with a breathtaking Lords of the Underworld tale about a warrior trapped by darkness and the woman determined to save him

Having endured weeks of torture in the bowels of hell, Kane wants nothing to do with his beautiful rescuer, Josephina Aisling. The half-Fae female threatens to awaken the demon of Disaster inside him—a beast he’s determined to kill, no matter the price.

Josephina is hunted by a brutal enemy—her royal family—and Kane is her only source of protection. He’s also the only male to ever set her aflame, and even he succumbs to the heat. But as they navigate the treacherous world of the Fae, they are forced to make a choice: live apart…or die together.

It has felt like forever since I have heard from the Lords and I am missing them terribly! I can't wait to dig into this one and read Kane's story. I hope Josephina is a good, strong character that can compare to the women in the previous books.

Review ~ Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris

There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart...

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough...

Ah.  The end of the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I definitely think it was time, but I will admit I am sad that it is over.  Sookie was one of my first paranormal series and she'll always have a spot in my heart.  Not just Sookie though, Eric and Alcide and Pam too.  I just may have to get the "update" book coming out in October just to catch up with my faves.

Sookie is the suspect of Arlene's murder and the whole supe community is coming out for this.  Well, those that don't show up have sent stand-ins, which is understandable, but still irked me.  Needless to say Sookie brings all of her still existing allies in to help prove her innocence and catch the true murderer.  A murder that yes, was done purposely to put Sookie behind bars.  It's ALL about Sookie.  The special girl from Bon Temps some that people just can't help but hate, and others just can't help to love.  I know, the series is ABOUT Sookie, but I've come to love some of the side characters more than her.  Take Pam for example.  Now she is a hoot.

I know there has been a lot of backlash over the ending of this book.  Honestly, I thought about this ending a long time ago, maybe halfway through the series.  But now, in my opinion, it was just plain wrong.  I was so mad I almost cried.  I know Sookie is going to happy, it is just not the way I envisioned it.  The inevitable happened and my hopes were dashed.  That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the book though.  Just left me sad.

I think I am going to give this book a 3.5 stars.  Not only because of the ending, but also because my excitement level just wasn't up there as far as in some of the earlier books.

Kudos to Ms. Harris for an awesome series and I am so glad she brought this amazing series to life for me and all my fellow Sookie fans.
