HE VOWED HE’D COME FOR HER . . . Murdered before he could wed Regin the Radiant, warlord Aidan the Fierce seeks his beloved through eternity, reborn again and again into new identities, yet with no memory of his past lives.
SHE AWAITS HIS RETURN . . .
When Regin encounters Declan Chase, a brutal Celtic soldier, she recognizes her proud warlord reincarnated. But Declan takes her captive, intending retribution against all immortals—unaware that he belongs to their world.
TO SATE A DESIRE MORE POWERFUL THAN DEATH . . .
Yet every reincarnation comes with a price, for Aidan is doomed to die when he remembers his past. To save herself from Declan’s torments, will Regin rekindle memories of the passion they once shared—even if it means once again losing the only man she could ever love?
My Review ~
I was really anxious to get to Regin's story. She is one of my favorite Valkrie because of her fearlessness and her attitude. She always makes me laugh. In this book, it was really hard for me to see her in such a serious situation and how she was going to handle it.
Declan Chase doesn't know for sure what he is, but he is doing everything he can to suppress it. Instead he takes out his hatred on all the creatures of the Lore. His orders cause a lot of torture and pain to even the good guys.
I read this story with a heavy heart. I could not for the life of me figure out how it would be possible for Regin to get her HEA. She's been one of the people tortured by the prison and how she could get past that and forgive him was beyond me. Even if she could get past it, and "run into his arms", how would the rest of the Lore forgive him for the pain he has caused? I didn't know if anyone would consider that he was someone from the Lore in a previous life or not. I wanted Regin to be happy, to have her HEA, but will she have to wait until Aidan's next reincarnation before she can finally get it? I will say I absolutely HATED seeing my carefree, fun-loving Regin in this position.
The action in this book is certainly a good battle of the Accession. We have the two sides of the Lore in a good battle and I'm still trying to figure out Lothaire, who seems to be walking a fine line between the Pravus and the Vertas. I can't wait to read his book to find out which side he is actually going to align with.
I loved this book and definitely worth a 4.5 to me. Although, the epilogue in this book really worries me about the future of my favorite Valkrie and whether I will continue to see her in upcoming books. You'll have to read it to figure out why though!
I would love to hear your views on this book, or even the series as a whole. Don't forget to leave a comment!
Each time I see a review for a Kresley Cole book i become even more frustrated with myself for not reading a single one! Thanks for your great review. I am going to set a goal to read one in by March.
