Goodreads Synopsis ~
Kendall Morgan is a human bloodhound. Spending her childhood hunting relics with her ambitious archeologist father, she knew the two of them shared a sixth sense for the history and location of objects—sometimes even people. What she didn’t know was that their paranormal gift could ultimately be their undoing.
After the tragic plane crash that killed her father as well as her childhood best friend, Kendall dedicated her life to finding and protecting relics. When mysterious, sexy billionaire Nathan Larraby hires her for his latest expedition—the search for four powerful relics —she’s thrown into a world of high-octane danger. He sends brooding mercenary Jake Stone to watch Kendall’s back, but he may have created danger of a different kind.
As the team chases down clues, a man called the Reaper makes a play for the artifacts and will stop at nothing to put them to his own sinister use. What’s worse is that Nathan hasn’t told the whole story, and the dark secrets he’s keeping could cost them the mission…and their lives.
My Review ~
This is a book a probably never would have picked up on my own. This is a book club read and I decided to do it on audio. Guardians of Stone was a fun read that totally reminded me of Indiana Jones.
This adventure takes place in Italy where Kendall and Jake are tracking an old relic box, their boss Nathan wants retrieved. Problem is, the Reaper and possibly one other person is after this box and will kill to get it.
Guardians of Stone is filled with secrets passages, booby traps, murder, sexual tension and just a smidgen of paranormal (Kendall's gift of tracking relics), which was fun. I am concerned that this series may stir up a love triangle, which I really don't like.
This was a fun sidebar for me, not being of my usual genres. That is what book clubs are for, right? I don't know if I will read the whole series though. That will be a decision best left for my OCD. I can't stand only reading the first book of a series.
Rating: 3.5 stars
Read for: Book club and Audio Challenge
I felt the same way about this book. I received it in the mail one day from the publisher and figured "why not?" I had read one of the author's highlander books and loved it but this one just wasn't my thing. I still enjoyed the story though.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even try! I blame Wendy though---she handed it to me going "you won't mind the triangle". GAH has she met me. I will not read a new author/book if I know in advance it has a triangle LOL
ReplyDeleteSo I'm guessing you probably didn't read the Vampire Shrink either huh? Triangle in it is driving me crazy!
DeleteOh it does sound like a fun one. I love a little action and adventure now and again :) I hadn't seen this one before but think I'll be adding it to my list.
ReplyDeleteLove triangles don't bother me all that much but after a certain point they can drive me a little crazy too. I want to be able to know all along who is going to be the final pair.
I enjoyed this one, and have so many questions going forward, adult books do not typically have love triangles..so lets hope we avoid it! Awesome review:)
